If any of your teeth are chipped, cracked, or discolored, veneers may be the right dental restoration for you. Here are the basics:
What is a veneer?
A veneer is a thin but durable sheet of porcelain designed to attach to your tooth to restore it to former glory.
How would Dr. Chris Pallotto fit me with a veneer?
Dr. Chris Pallotto will first assess the state of your tooth and decide on the best course of action. If your tooth is still fairly strong, a veneer will probably be the best option for you. If it has been weakened due to decay or aging, they will likely recommend a crown instead. If a veneer is the best choice, they may be able to fit you with a temporary veneer.
A mold will be taken of your mouth called an impression, which will be taken to a dental technician to create your permanent veneer. If you have plans to get your teeth whitened, you’ll want to do that before you get the permanent veneer, as its material cannot be bleached later and you’ll want to match it to the shade of the rest of your teeth.
Once the dental technician has created the permanent custom-made veneer, Dr. Chris Pallotto will remove the temporary veneer and will attach the permanent one to your tooth with a special durable dental superglue.
What are the benefits of a veneer?
• A beautiful, full smile
• You can use what is left of your natural tooth
• It saves your original tooth from exposure to bacteria and acid
